Mark Kastelic

Passionate Car Racer from Slovenia

Early Years

Mark Kastelic is a 18-year-old passionate car racer from Ivančna Gorica, Slovenia. Coming from a racing family, it’s no surprise that he developed a love for racing, cars, and adrenaline at a young age. At just five years old, he expressed his desire to race and began his journey in karting. His first competitive category was the Mini 50 class in the Slovenian National Championship, known as Sportstil cup. By the age of seven, he sought to advance his skills and moved up to the more competitive Micro Max class as part of the Rotax Championship. With his family’s goal of competing in the highest categories against the toughest competition, Mark participated in his first race abroad when he was just ten years old.

Karting Career

Mark Kastelic is known for his persistence in karting, a sport recognized as a breeding ground for top racing talents. After a successful debut in the national championship, his racing career took off. Competing primarily abroad, Mark honed his skills in strong international competitions, which have historically produced some of the greatest talents in modern motorsport, many of whom now compete at the highest levels. Mark first caught the attention of the global racing community in 2019 when he stepped onto the podium of major competitions. Throughout 2020, he continued to make regular appearances on the podium. He has consistently performed well in the Iame Series competition in Italy and has successfully faced off against some of the fastest racers in the sport.

Successes then began to come in other competitions. Certainly, a resounding result was second place in the so-called WSK Euro Series race, where more than a hundred of the best karting drivers from around the world competed. Mark certainly drew attention with third place in the Champions of the Future race in Zuera, Spain. In 2021, he also finished second in the WSK Euro Series race, in the OKJ category.

Transition to Cars

In these years, he began to be drawn to higher racing categories and faster racers again, so at the end of 2023 season, he moved into the world of car racing and immediately sat behind the wheel of a powerful Mercedes AMG GT4 racing car in the Lema racing team for 2024 season. In his first season of participation, Mark raced a training racing year in the Italian GT4 Championship and also in the Central European Championship called ESET Cup.

In autumn 2023, Mark made a significant career step by switching from karting to racing cars, entering the GT4 series with Lema Racing team, driving their Mercedes AMG GT4. He competed in both the Italian GT4 Championship and the Central European ESET Cup.

GT4 Achievements

Mark Kastelic’s first year competing in the GT4 category served as a valuable learning experience, during which he quickly demonstrated his talent by achieving his first pole position in his debut race. The season turned out to be highly successful, as Mark secured a third place finish and a victory in the ESET Cup Series championship. In addition, during his appearances in the Italian championship races, he earned three third place finishes, one second place, and one victory, ultimately concluding his inaugural racing year in that championship in third place overall.
